speaking at the closing ceremony in Ha Noi to celebrate four years since the
campaign’s launch.

Meanwhile, To Huy Rua, secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its

building a strong Party.

“The

achievements and to the building of a firm Party,” he said.

the campaign had resulted in remarkable changes in lifestyle and working habits,
while helping drive back the degradation of political ideology among Party
members, civil servants and the rest of society.

The
service provided by civil servants had been improved greatly and resulted in
positive administrative reforms, Rua said.

It had
also helped combat corruption and inefficiency, he said, adding that the
campaign would be extended.

Manh
however said there were still shortcomings in the campaign.

He said
a few local Party committees had not attached enough importance to the campaign,
adding there were some problems with the implementation of the plan and that
co-ordination among harmony.

Manh
said lack of co-ordination among localities had detrimentally affected the
effectiveness of the campaign as a whole. He also said that
awareness-instruction, inspection and discipline needed to be improved.

The
Party leader proposed raising key officials’ sense of responsibility.

Manh
confirmed that the success of the campaign over the last four years would be
highlighted at the upcoming 11th National Party Congress.

The awards ceremony for participants in a writing
contest about the Party was held in Hanoi on December 12 by the Party Central
Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, the National Political
Publishing House, Vietnam Television and Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

The event aimed to gather opinions
from people across the country on enhancing the Party’s leading role in society

learn and follow Ho Chi Minh’s moral
example.

After 6 months, the organising board
had received 40,000 entries from provinces across the country, overseas
Vietnamese and foreigners who work and study in Vietnam.

Most of the entries were focused on
reviewing the Party’s achievements during the process of national construction
and introducing outstanding individuals and organsiations that have made an
active contribution to the country.

Some of them also point out some
urgent problems that need to be solved such as bureaucratic and corruption cases
discovered among a number of Party members.

improve the capacity of leaders and the leading role of the Party in specific
aspects of society.
