Vietnam-China relations further strengthen



Truong Tan Sang, a Politburo member and standing member of the Secretariat of
the Party Central Committee, warmly received Cai Wu, member of the Party Central
Committee and Minister of Culture of China in Hanoi on December 2.

Sang described the visit as a
practical contribution to further strengthening cooperative ties between the two
cultural ministries as well as the relationship between the two Parties and
countries on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties
between the two countries.

He said that over the past 60 years,
the friendly and traditional relations between the two countries have been
developing strongly, especially in politics, economics, culture, science and
technology, education, healthcare and security and defence.

He added that the two Parties’ close
cooperation in theoretical work and human resources training has made important
contributions to dealing with important issues in the process of building
socialism.

Cai Wu affirmed that leaders of the
Party, Government and Chinese people always value the development of traditional
relations with Vietnam, pledging to incessantly strengthen and develop the
comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with the Vietnamese Party, State
and people.

On the occasion, he also briefed
Sang on the results of his working session with the Vietnamese Ministry of
Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The two ministries have agreed to
strengthen cooperation by implementing several new cooperation agreements. They
vowed to effectively realise their cooperative agreement signed for the
2010-2012 period and recognised Vietnam’s proposal on China’s assistance to the
country in conservation work and promoting the exchange of information and
experiences in order to develop the cultural sector in Vietnam.

They also agreed to go ahead with
the organization of a Cultural Week in each country, as well as other cultural
and artistic activities to support Ha Long Bay’s bid to become one of seven new
world wonders.

On the same day, the Chinese
delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan who sincerely
thanked the Chinese government and the Chinese Ministry of Culture for assisting
the Vietnamese delegations at the Shanghai International Fair 2010 and the sixth
Asian Games (ASIAD) in Guangzhou province.

During 2010, the year when Vietnam
and China marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties, the two
countries have held a large number of cultural and artistic events, he said.


VN Communist Party delegation attends ICAPP 6


Head of the Communist Party of Viet Nam
Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan spoke
highly of the Cambodian Government’s preparations for the 6th International
Conference of Asian Political Parties, ICAPP 6, which kicked off in Phnom Penh
yesterday.

Quan praised the government during a
meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

He also congratulated the Cambodian people
on their important achievements under the leadership of the ruling Cambodian
People’s Party and offered condolences to the country on the recent stampede
that killed hundreds of people.

Hun Sen, who is also Vice Chairman of the
CPP, valued the Vietnamese delegation’s attendance at the ICAPP 6, which he said
was a manifestation of solid relations and contributed to the success of the
event.

He said the Cambodian People’s Party and
Government had tried their utmost to consolidate and strengthen the traditional
friendship, solidarity relations and co-operation between the two countries
towards practical and effective development.

Earlier, permanent member of the CPP
Central Committee’s Standing Board and Cambodian National Assembly Deputy
Chairman Sai Chum also received the delegation.




US Institute of Global
Engagement head visits VN


A nine-member delegation of the
Institute of Global Engagement (IGE) headed by Dr. Chris Seiple,
arrived in Vietnam on December 2.

At the working session, the standing
Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO),
Tran Dac Loi, informed the guests of Vietnam’s foreign policies and
relations between Vietnam and the US, particularly its progress in
ensuring human rights and religious freedom.
He highlighted the activities of VUFO and the Vietnam-US Association
which are aimed at enhancing relations between Vietnam and foreign
countries, including the US.
On this occasion, the delegation will visit Phat Diem church, Bai Dinh
pagoda and some historical monuments in the northern provinces of Ninh
Binh and Dien Bien.




Military Zone 7 urged to cooperate with local
authorities



Military Zone 7 should cooperate with local
authorities to build the whole people’s defense to protect national security and
maintain social and political stability, said President Nguyen Minh Triet.

President Triet made the request at
his visit to Military Zone 7 on December 3 on the occasion of its 65th
anniversary (December 10).

Mr. Triet highlighted Military Zone
7’s development and its contribution to ensuring political security and social
order in the region and fighting against hostile forces.

At the working session, Lieutenant
General Trieu Xuan Hoa, commander of Military Zone 7, reported to the President
on the achievements of the Zone during its 65-year history, emphasizing that it
has made great effort to fulfill its political and military mission,
contributing to the country’s defense and construction.

Military Zone 7 has aligned
socio-economic development with building a strong defense, he said, adding that
the Zone has effectively implemented numerous economic-defense projects to help
localities upgrade their infrastructure.
