He said that over the past 60 years, the friendly and traditional relations between the two countries have been developing strongly, especially in politics, economics, culture, science and technology, education, healthcare and security and defence. He added that the two Parties’ close cooperation in theoretical work and human resources training has made important contributions to dealing with important issues in the process of building socialism. Cai Wu affirmed that leaders of the Party, Government and Chinese people always value the development of traditional relations with Vietnam, pledging to incessantly strengthen and develop the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with the Vietnamese Party, State and people. On the occasion, he also briefed Sang on the results of his working session with the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The two ministries have agreed to strengthen cooperation by implementing several new cooperation agreements. They vowed to effectively realise their cooperative agreement signed for the 2010-2012 period and recognised Vietnam’s proposal on China’s assistance to the country in conservation work and promoting the exchange of information and experiences in order to develop the cultural sector in Vietnam. They also agreed to go ahead with the organization of a Cultural Week in each country, as well as other cultural and artistic activities to support Ha Long Bay’s bid to become one of seven new world wonders. On the same day, the Chinese delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan who sincerely thanked the Chinese government and the Chinese Ministry of Culture for assisting the Vietnamese delegations at the Shanghai International Fair 2010 and the sixth Asian Games (ASIAD) in Guangzhou province. US Institute of Global Engagement head visits VN A nine-member delegation of the Institute of Global Engagement (IGE) headed by Dr. Chris Seiple, arrived in Vietnam on December 2. At the working session, the standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), Tran Dac Loi, informed the guests of Vietnam’s foreign policies and relations between Vietnam and the US, particularly its progress in ensuring human rights and religious freedom. He highlighted the activities of VUFO and the Vietnam-US Association which are aimed at enhancing relations between Vietnam and foreign countries, including the US. Military Zone 7 urged to cooperate with local authorities Military Zone 7 should cooperate with local authorities to build the whole people’s defense to protect national security and maintain social and political stability, said President Nguyen Minh Triet. President Triet made the request at his visit to Military Zone 7 on December 3 on the occasion of its 65th anniversary (December 10). Mr. Triet highlighted Military Zone 7’s development and its contribution to ensuring political security and social order in the region and fighting against hostile forces. At the working session, Lieutenant General Trieu Xuan Hoa, commander of Military Zone 7, reported to the President on the achievements of the Zone during its 65-year history, emphasizing that it has made great effort to fulfill its political and military mission, contributing to the country’s defense and construction. Military Zone 7 has aligned socio-economic development with building a strong defense, he said, adding that the Zone has effectively implemented numerous economic-defense projects to help localities upgrade their infrastructure.
