Marta Roza, who was the last foreign journalist to interview President Ho Chi
Minh before his passing away, highly valued the achievements that Vietnam has
made during the Doi Moi (renewal) process, especially in education and
healthcare.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Cuba, Mai Thao, shared
his wish that the 11th National Party Congress would pave the way for
the country’s industrialisation and modernisation period.

“Since the 6th Party Congress held in 1986, under the clear-sighted leadership
of the Party and sound management of the government, Vietnam has gained
extremely great achievements in both internal and external affairs, raising the
country’s position in the international arena and improving people’s lives,” he
said.

In his opinion, the government should further support disadvantaged people in
remote areas and increase investment in education and health care which are key
to success in the future.

Currently the marketing director for Asia of Cuba’s Heber Biotec pharmaceuticals
and biological products trading company, Mai Thao has actively contributed to
promoting bilateral trade between Vietnam and Cuba.
