The
success of Viet Nam’s role as ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Chairman in the

National Assembly thanks to the efficient contributions of all officers and
staff, Trong said.

He also

Generals commended

Prime
Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who is also a politburo member, yesterday paid a Tet

General Department for Homeland Security II.

He
commended generals, officers and staff of the two departments for their
achievements last year.

“You
have greatly contributed to the country’s political security, maintaining law
and order and achieving rapid socio-economic development,” Dung said. “Viet
Nam’s increasing prestige in the world is greatly attributable to the efforts
made by the public security forces.”

Regarding the forces’ tasks for this year, Dung asked them to hold high the
vigilance against dark plots and smash them in the bud in order to maintain a
peaceful life for the people and protect the country’s territorial integrity.

He also
asked the People’s Public Security Forces, including the Homeland Security
Forces, to act as good advisors to the Party and Government in order to
successfully mobilise the integrated strength of the whole political system in
the fight against crimes.

Dung
urged the police forces to train themselves to become an elite force that can
foil any dark schemes of the enemy or counter-revolutionary forces.

The same
day, Deputy Prime Minister and Politburo member Nguyen Sinh Hung visited the Hai
Phong Shipyard.

Hung
expressed his appreciation of the great efforts made by leaders and workers at
the Hai Phong Shipyard in overcoming difficulties and challenges in 2010.

He

Viet Nam’s ship building industry stable and developed.

“In the
last half of 2010 the shipbuilding industry scored a quite remarkable recovery,
contributing to make the shipyard workers feel at ease in their work,” Hung
said.

On the
occasion, Hung also visited the Nam Trieu and Pha Rung shipyards where he
presented gifts to the workers.

Meanwhile Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong on Tuesday started a two-day
