The World Trade Organization Reference Center in Vietnam came into operation on Tuesday, aiming to provide local officials, businesses and scholarly communities with online information regarding trade policy.

The facility was set up inside the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Institute for Commerce Research in Hanoi. Officials announced that the center will offer technical assistance and training courses for Vietnamese officials.

So far, the center has received 151 documents on 32 issues, including trade policy dictionaries and handbooks, international trade statistics by the WTO, and other trade-related materials.

The WTO Reference Center program was been implemented by the organization’s Secretariat starting in 1997. Since then, more than 150 centers have been set up in over 100 countries.
