Party leader Trong
announces Central Committee Secretariat


Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu
Trong announced the membership of the new 11th Communist Party of Viet Nam
Central Committee’s Secretariat yesterday, Feb 9.

The Secretariat comprises 10
people. They are Party General Secretary Trong, permanent member of the
Secretariat of the CPVCC Truong Tan Sang, General, Minister of Public Security
Le Hong Anh, Director of the CPVCC’s Commission for Organisation To Huy Rua,
Director of the CPVCC’s Commission for Inspection Ngo Van Du and Head of the
Central Commission for Communication and Education Dinh The Huynh.


Earlier, the 11th Party Central
Committee elected four new members to the Secretariat.


They include Lieutenant General,
Deputy Director of the General Politics Department of the Viet Nam People’s Army
Ngo Xuan Lich, Chief of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh, Director of
the CPVCC Commission for Mass Mobilisation Ha Thi Khiet, and Minister of Labour,
Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.


The CPVCC Secretariat takes
responsibility for supervising the daily execution of Party policies.


Laos
publishes Ho Chi Minh Thought book

Laos has published a book on Ho Chi Minh’s Thought and ethic example in
practising thrift and fighting corruption, wastefulness and bureaucracy, written
by the former Minister of Information and Culture, Bountenh Vongxay.

The book gathers articles of his theoretical research on the simple but great
example of Vietnam’s late President Ho Chi Minh.

The book’s author, who previously headed the Lao News Agency, said the Laotians
could learn many practical lessons from Ho Chi Minh’s moral example.

The book will come out before the ninth National Congress of the Lao People’s
Revolutionary Party opens at the end of March.

In 2006, Bountenh published a book on Ho Chi Minh’s thought in Vietnam’s
renovation cause, which has been used by Lao schools and armed forces as
textbooks for their political education.


Congratulations conveyed to
new Nepali Prime Minister


Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung sent
a letter of congratulations to Jhala Nath Khanal for assuming the role of Prime
Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal yesterday.


Letter of condolence sent
after death of former Fijian president


President Nguyen Minh Triet
yesterday, Feb 9, sent his condolences to President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau of the
Republic of Fiji following the death of former President Ratu Josefa Iloilo.


Ratu Josefa Iloilo passed away on
Sunday.


Congratulations to Myanmar’s newly-elected
leaders


State President Nguyen Minh Triet and Prime
Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Saturday sent a joint message of congratulations to
the newly-elected President of Myanmar, Thein Sein.

In their message, the Vietnamese leaders affirmed belief that under the
leadership of Thein Sein, Myanmar will attain greater achievements in the
national construction and development, actively contributing to peace,
stability, co-operation and development in the region and the world at large.

On the same day, Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan addressed a congratulatory
message to Tin Aung Myint Oo, who was elected as Vice President of Myanmar.

Earlier on February 1, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong sent
congratulatory messages to Myanmar’s newly-elected upper house speaker Khin Aung
Myint and lower house speaker Thura Shwe Mann, respectively, on their taking
offices.
