VietNamNet Bridge – The first flight of Vietnam Airlines carrying 318 Vietnamese workers in Libya landed at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport on the evening of March 1. Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan welcomed workers at the airport.


The Boeing 777 carrying 318 workers landed at Noi Bai Airport at 10.40 pm, March 1.

Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan welcomed workers at the staircase.

Hundreds of people shouted “Vietnam” when they got out of the aircraft.

They moved to the entrance.

Nguyen Van Trang, from Ba Vi district, Hanoi, said after a 10-day trip,

including two days in cold and hunger at the border, he was finally at home.

“The portrait of Uncle Ho was the inseparable thing of many Vietnamese workers in Libya,” he said.

Tran Huu Nghi from Phu Tho province with the passport that he was granted two days ago in Egypt to return home.

It took them a long time to fulfill entrance formalities.

In the meantime, their families and representative of manpower exporting

companies were waiting for them outside.

Quach Van Thanh from Soc Son district, Hanoi, carried his son in his arms.

His family waited for him at the airport for hours.

Other got into buses of manpower exporting firms.

They were very happy to escape from Libya but they began to worry about the future.

Many workers borrowed to cover fees to go to Libya but they had to return home very early. Now they face big debts.

By March 1, 1442 Vietnamese arrived home safely. Around 1000 people will returned home on March 2-3, according to the Department for Management of Overseas Labor. Around 6,200 workers were evacuated to other countries.
