National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc
Kien yesterday,
March 10,
pressed a button to launch the election website for the 13th National Assembly
and the People’s Councils at all levels.

The
website and the media would serve together as effective
tools to distribute information and contribute to the success of the elections,
Kien said.

He
stressed the need to ensure absolute security for the website as it is the
official address for dissemination of information from the Party, the Election
Council, Election Committees, the Government and other relevant agencies.

He also
asked the website’s staff to proactively and regularly update accurate
information about the election process.

The website includes a list of the 13th NA candidates and their
biographies, election outcomes as well as statistics on the event. It will
continue to operate after the election.

Preparations for the coming elections of the 13th National Assembly (NA) and
People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-16 term in HCM City have been
carried out as scheduled in line with the Election Law, the city’s Election
Committee reported on Wednesday.

The
city’s Election Committee made the report to the National Election Council’s
supervision

team
led by the NA Deputy Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son when the

team
carried out its inspection tour in the city.

In the
elections which will be held on May 22, the city will have 10 NA election units
to elect 30 deputies for the 13th NA, while 32 People’s Council election units
would vote for 95 deputies for the city People’s Council.

The
city’s 63 communes and wards, which still have People’s Councils, will elect
1,982 deputies.

As of
Wednesday, 40 people received application forms for self-nominated candidates,
including 18 for the 13th NA election and 22 for the People’s Council election.

Son said
the city should focus on preparations to make sure that the elections run
smoothly.

The city
should complete the task of educating and disseminating information about the
elections and ensure order and social safety while they are on, he added.

On the
same day, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong also inspected the
preparations in southwestern Tay Ninh Province.

Trong
said Tay Ninh should pay attention to the work of introducing candidates for the
poll.

Tay Ninh
will elect six deputies for the 13th NA and 51 deputies for the provincial
People’s Council.
