According to Nguyen Van Pha, Vice chair of the Vietnam

shortlisted for the NA election, including 182 from central agencies and 650
from local agencies.

There are 239 women, 110 non-Party members, 180 people with
ages under 40, and 83 who are current NA deputies.

Notably, 15 out of 83 self-nominated candidates, including
12 men and 3 women, entered the final round, including four from Hanoi and HCM
City each, 2 from the central province of Nghe An, and one each from the
southern provinces of Bac Lieu and Dong Nai, the central province of Ha Tinh,
and the northern province of Hung Yen.

Eleven of them are non-Party members. Most self-nominated
candidates are businessmen, including young people.

In the previous election in 2007, there were 30 out of 238
independent candidates entering the shortlist round.

As scheduled, April 27 will be the deadline for announcing
the official lists of candidates at each constituency. Candidates will have 18
days for electoral canvassing (May 3-20).

The NA election, scheduled for May 22, will select 500 NA
