British foreign minister to visit Vietnam

Jeremy Browne, British Minister of State will pay a visit to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from Tuesday to Thursday this week to boost Vietnam-England bilateral relation in major sector includes diplomacy policy, education, commerce and investment.


The British Minister will have meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Vietnam Airlines, Pham Ngoc Minh to discuss on operation of direct flight route from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to London which is expected to be available at the end of this year.

Vietnam Airlines has announced its plan to open non-stop flight to London in late 2010. In this April, the national carrier top seniors will have meeting with London authority to make the final agreement.

In addition, Browne will host a conference with Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan on education, mainly about the UK – Vietnam University in Danang which is expected to begin operation in early 2012.

The British Minister will also discuss with Minister of Foreign Affair Pham Gia Khiem on critical issues in Vietnam – the UK trade relation includes banking, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and real estate.

Browne will also join in the launch of project to provide support on leadership and management skills for Vietnamese Stated Owned enterprise by Rolls Royce, British Council and UK Trade and Investment office (UKTI).

Before leave for England, the minister will also have meeting with major Britain enterprises operating in Vietnam.
