Nam vows co-operation with regional political parties

The Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV)
will continue to co-operate closely and make contributions to the International

and development in the region and the world.

Party General
Secretary and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong made the remark while
receiving a delegation of key ICAPP officials in Ha Noi yesterday, April 19.

He spoke highly of the
ICAPP’s success over the past decade, stressing the importance of multilateral
forums for political parties in the socio-political life of the region and the
world, which have promoted co-operation between political parties and countries.

Amidst the current
global fluctuations, Trong said political parties needed to enhance co-operation
to generate common perception and come to a consensus in order to find effective
measures to cope with regional and global challenges.

Trong expressed his
belief that the ICAPP would further promote its role and influence, not only in
the region, but also expand co-operation with political parties and multilateral
organisations in other regions.

The ICAPP delegation
congratulated Viet Nam and the CPV on achievements during the renewal process
over the past 25 years, as well as the increasing role and prestige of the
country.

They said they
believed that the Vietnamese people would successfully implement the goals set
by the 11th Party Congress’ Resolution.

The ICAPP officials
informed Trong of key results over the past decade of the ICAPP’s operations.
With the participation of nearly 100 political parties in Asia, the ICAPP has
become the world’s largest multilateral forum for political parties.

The CPV made positive
contributions to the forum’s development, they said, adding that they believed
the CPV would continue to help implement the ICAPP goals, contribute to
maintaining an environment of peace, co-operation and development in the region
and the world.

Earlier, the ICAPP
delegation held talks with Hoang Binh Quan, member of the CPV Central Committee
and head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations. They
discussed specific measures to boost co-operation between the CPV and the ICAPP
and its Standing Committee.

They agreed that the
CPV would host a regular meeting of the ICAPP Standing Committee in Hanoi in the
near future.
