VietNamNet Bridge - Four self-nominated candidates from Hanoi have been shortlisted to run for the upcoming National Assembly (NA) election in May.

They have passed the third consultative conference in Hanoi this morning to become official candidates.

They are Nguyen Tan Dat, a lecturer at the National Academy of Public Administration; Nguyen Quang Huan, general director of the Thang Long Infrastructure Development JSC, Chau Thi Thu Nga, chairman and general director of the Land and Housing Construction and Investment JSC, and Le Truyen, a member of the presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The four are among the list of 40 official candidates of Hanoi for the NA election that is scheduled on May 22, 2011.

These candidates include 11 PhDs, 19 MAs and 10 BAs. There are 15 female candidates in the list.

Included in the list are six incumbent NA deputies, namely Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong, Nguyen Hong Son, Pham Thi Hong Nga, Nguyen Pham Y Nhi, Chu Son Ha and Nguyen Thi Hong Ha.

These 40 candidates have been selected from 71 candidates, including 30 self-nominees, who passed the second consultative conference on March 22.

This means 26 self-nominated candidates have been disqualified at the conference this morning.

Of the 71 candidates, 11 failed as they have not complied with the election regulations.
