planned to visit Vietnam

Vietnam and Russia should
make good preparations for the visit, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said
during the meeting in Hanoi on April 26, with
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Borodavkin, who was in Vietnam to attend a regular deputy
foreign minister-level political consultation.

Dung said the two
sides should work closely to implement bilateral agreements with the focus on
economics, trade, investment, culture, education-training and
science-technology.

He said the regular
political consultation showed confidence and cooperation between the two
ministries and made contributions to the Vietnam-Russia strategic partnership.

He said Vietnam was ready to accelerate the warming-up
of negotiations on a free trade agreement between Vietnam and member countries of the
Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Alliance.

The agreement is
expected to boost two-way trade to $3 billion by 2012 and $10 billion by 2020.

Dung also said Vietnam is ready to cooperate with Russia in aviation and space technology for
peaceful purposes, as well as organizing the APEC 2012 Summit.

The regular
political consultation at deputy foreign ministerial level was to review
situations and discuss measures to strengthen the traditional friendship and
promote cooperation between the two countries, in the context of the two
nations celebrating the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership.

During the
consultation, Borodavkin’s Vietnamese counterpart, Bui Thanh Son, asked for Russia’s support in Vietnam’s bid for membership of the
UN Human Rights Council for the 2013-2016 term, and as a non-permanent member
of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term.

The exact date for
the Russian PM’s visit is not available.
