After choosing final candidates for the upcoming National Assembly (NA) and People’s Council elections, seven provinces have proposed to organize the elections early, while one province wanted to postpone the elections.

Elections will be held early on Truong Sa Island District.

So far, all 63 provinces and cities have had the lists of official candidates for the elections of deputies of the NA and People’s Councils and set up local election councils and constituencies.

Seven provinces (Hai Phong, Dak Lak, Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Quang Binh) have asked to hold the elections earlier than schedule (May 22). Lai Cha province proposed to organize the elections later than scheduled.

Particularly, the central province of Khanh Hoa wanted to organize elections on May 15, on its island communes in Truong Sa (Spratly) District.

According to Trinh Sao Mai, Vice head of the NA Standing Committee’s Deputy Affairs Department, the key tasks in the coming time is making public the lists of candidates for the NA and People’s Council elections, electoral canvassing and making the lists of constituents.

During the regulated period for electoral campaigns (May 2-20), 11 working groups will supervise election-related activities in 22 provinces and cities.
