Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung (R) meets with Lieutenant-General Neo Kian Hong, chief of Singapore’s Defense Force on Monday in Hanoi

Singapore will make its best to expand its cooperation with Vietnam in national defense, said Lieutenant-General Neo Kian Hong, chief of Singapore’s Defense Force in a recent meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The cooperation will cover teaching soldier’s foreign language as well as training them on counter-terrorism.

Singapore will also support Vietnam’s approach to solving problems in the East Sea, according to Hong at meeting Monday in Hanoi.

The two countries agreed that the region should comply with the terms of the “Declaration on the Conduct of Parties” document signed between China and ASEAN countries in 2002, and problems should be solved in peace.

Dung, meanwhile, said Hong’s visit to Vietnam is an important mark in improving the military cooperation between the two countries.
