Viet Nam-Cambodia education ties would
increase in the near future, with a focus on exchanging delegations and
increased co-operation between educational agencies and scientific research
organisations, according to a new bilateral protocol for the 2011-15 period.

Viet
Nam’s Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan and Cambodia’s Minister of
Education, Youth and Sport Im Sethy signed the protocol on Monday.

For its
part, Viet Nam will support Cambodia through the teaching Vietnamese at the
Royal University of Phnom Penh.

Viet
Nam’s Ministry of Education and Training delegation paid a two - day visit to
Cambodia, which concluded yesterday, April 26.

During
the talks before the signing ceremony, the two sides highly valued the effective
implementation of the previous protocol, effective for the 2006-10 period.

Viet Nam
has since 2006 received a total of 1,167 students from Cambodia, with
postgraduate students accounting for 20-25 percent of the total. Cambodia has
annually provided 10-15 Vietnamese students with scholarships for studying in
