Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet and his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych signed a joint declaration on Sunday, pledging to strengthen ties between the two countries.

The declaration came following President Yanukovych’s three day visit to Vietnam, according to a report posted on the government website.

On Saturday, Yanukovych told Triet that the two countries share great potential for cooperation in a broad range of fields because their economies are developing in a way that could support mutual growth.

Vietnam and Ukraine agreed to strengthen cooperation in many sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, education, and technology.

President Triet said the relationship between the countries has entered a new era and that the cooperation will develop in a fast and effective way.

During their meeting, the presidents also attended signing ceremonies for other cooperation agreements pertaining to the fields of agriculture, banking, investment, culture and quality standards.
