VietNamNet Bridge – The deadline for National Assembly candidates to meet with constituents will end in a week but many provinces have completed organizing meetings between NA candidates and constituents.

NA Chair Nguyen Phu Trong in a meeting with constituents in Hanoi.

By May 12, Bac Ninh, Nam Dinh, Dak Nong and Long An completed this task, said Nguyen Van Pha, Vice Chair of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

Pha said that the numbers of meetings between NA candidates and constituents exceeded the minimum number stipulated in regulations; for example, over 20 meetings in Kien Giang, 14 in Quang Nam, etc.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, each NA candidate must have at least 10 meetings with constituents until May 18. Candidates will have two more days after that to perform other forms of canvasing under the law.

The consideration of constituent’s petitions and complaints against NA candidates were also finalized on May 12.

Some voting precincts are allowed by the National Election Council to organize elections early. On May 2, the first votes were cast by soldiers on ships at the Dai Hung and Rong oil fields.

On May 9, Vietsovpetro organized early elections for its workers on some oil rigs.

The official day for election is Sunday, May 22.
