Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu
Trong joined other candidates for the 13th National Assembly to meet voters in
the Ba Dinh and Hoan Kiem districts of Ha Noi on Saturday as part of their
election campaigns.

General Secretary
Trong, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Party Commission and NA
Chairman, and four other candidates set out their election manifestos at the
meeting.

Trong stressed the
role and task of the 13th National Assembly was to institutionalise guidelines
and strategies for the country’s construction and development during the
transitional period to socialism set by the 11th Party Congress, gradually
transforming Party resolutions into reality.

Trong and the other
candidates pledged to spare no efforts in their work to improve the quality and
operational effectiveness of the National Assembly on four working pillars – law
making, supervising, deciding the country’s important issues and external
relations.

Also on the same day,
meetings between other NA candidates and voters were held across Ha Noi in Long
Bien District and other suburban districts such as Dan Phuong, Tu Liem, Hoai Duc,
Dong Anh, Me Linh and Soc Son.

workers vote early

Almost 1,100 voters
cast their votes for the 13th National Assembly and people’s councils at all
levels for the 2011-2016 term in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung
Tau on Saturday, two weeks earlier than the rest of the nation on May 22.

The voters, who all
work for the Vietsovpetro joint venture enterprise, were allowed to vote ahead
of schedule because they were set to leave the mainland to work on drilling rigs
and sea-going vessels.

They set sail on the
same day.
