The Ambassador confirmed the safety of the nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan at the nuclear power forum held in Ninh Thuan on April 13.

He said Russian group Rosatom has built 66 turbines in 12 countries and its experience ensures the safety of the nuclear power plant in Vietnam’s Ninh Thuan province.

Boyarkin Sergei Alexandrovich, Rosatom’s Program Manager, introduced to participants Rosatom’s nuclear power plants built in China, Finland, India, Ukraine and Hungary. He said the nuclear pile of the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant 1 belongs to the third generation, with very highly environmental safety factors.

He said Russian experts have conducted geological surveys in Ninh Thuan to ensure the safety for the plant in case of earthquakes and had at least four options for the site of construction of the nuclear power plant.

The forum was co-organized by Rosatom and Ninh Thuan authorities, attracting 150 scientists and officials.

The construction of the first nuclear power plant is scheduled in 2014.
