VietNamNet Bridge – Director Nguyen Quang Dung has replaced songwriter Tran Tien as a judge of the Vietnam Television’s (VTV) Universal Steps third show last night, May 15.

Film director Nguyen Quang Dung.

Dung said that he is ready to give the position back to Tran Tien if he returns to Vietnam when the show doesn’t finish.

Dung was the judge of the first season of Universal Steps in 2010. He said before the second season started, he refused to join the jury panel because he was busy with other jobs. “But when the show faces difficulties, I cannot refuse to return,” Dung explained for his action.

Dung, 32, who has been the judge of many competitions, said he understood the public pressure. According to him, being a judge in a television show is not showing speaking skill in front of the audience. A judge must be aware of his part in the show and must perform his designated missions.

The film director said that the organizing board of Universal Steps chose four people of different personalities for the judging panel to make the show attractive. “Don’t ask judges to obey any standards,” he said.

Dung said he is willing to give back the position to songwriter Tran Tien if he finishes his European tour early.

In the third show, actress Kim Hien and her partner were rejected from the show.

Universal Steps is the Vietnamese version of the world famous “Dancing with the Stars” reality show.
