Lookatvietnam - The call for help for teachers on Tet by Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has had a great response, with VND1.9 billion ($120,000) contributed by businesses and individuals in the past two days.

The military telecom corporation, Viettel, offered VND600 million to teachers in five Central Highlands provinces – Lam Dong, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Gia Lai – and seven other provinces, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Bac Giang, Phu Yen, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam and Binh Dinh.

The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group has given VND500 million to ten provinces: Phu Tho, Ninh Thuan, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Tra Vinh, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, An Giang and Ca Mau.

Another VND500 million also went to ten provinces: Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Hoa Binh.

Notably, Mr. Le Van Kiem, a veteran and a Labor Hero, has donated VND300 million to six provinces: Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Binh Thuan, Thua Thien-Hue city, Quang Tri and Quang Binh.

Yesterday evening donations were transferred to their respective provinces, said Tran Quang Quy, Chief of the Secretariat of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The Ministry authorized directors of local departments of education and training to deliver the financial support to teachers before Tet.
