VietNamNet Bridge – Bui Thi Minh Chau has said that she has accepted the decision by the HCM City National University to send another student of the university to the ASEAN leader-youth dialogue to be held on February 28.

With the idea that the dialogue is the chance that needs to be shared for the institution, the HCM City National University decided to send another student to attend the dialogue. As the invitation to the dialogue was sent to the HCM City National University, the university legally has the right to appoint the person to attend the event.

After discussing with teachers and friends, Chau has accepted the decision by the HCM City National University’s leadership.

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Hong, Head of the International Relation Division under the HCM City National University, said that sending students to the dialogue is the work of the institution, not a personality; therefore, after receiving the email from the AUN, which invited Chau to the dialogue, the university replied, explaining that there might be a mistake.

“We have assigned another student to the important event,” Hong said.

Believing that Chau’s insistence in attending the dialogue is just an ‘impulse’ of the youth, Hong said “I wish that Chau calms down and reconsiders the issue.”

Hong added that while attending the ASEAN universities’ youth summit in Bangkok, Thailand in September 2008, representing 60,000 students of the HCM City National University, Chau fulfilled her role very well.

When talking to VietNamNet, Chau also said that the ASEAN leader-youth summit is really the chance that needs to be shared and admitted that she acted the way that might have affected the prestige of the university.

As it was unclear about who will attend the ASEAN leader-youth summit, the AUN sent an email saying that it was really embarrassed in this case.
