LookAtVietnam – Belgium will finance almost 535,000 Euros to a five-year project to help train Vietnam’s first master’s degree holders in the field of rural economy and sociology.

The project follows a 10-year cooperation project between the Hanoi Agriculture University I and the Belgian Francophone Interuniversity Council (CIUF).

The first course will begin this September with 15 students, whose degrees will be recognised by both Belgium and Vietnam.

Universities of Hanoi, Hue city and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam, as well as Laos and Cambodia will be partners of the projects.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Banh Tien Long said at a seminar on February 23 in Hanoi that the project will be a boom to rural development in Vietnam.

The US Government has also just announced a scholarship programme targeting Vietnamese female citizens that covers post-graduate training in the economy.

Beneficiaries will study two years in the US from the 2009-2010 academic year, and are required to work for the government or the public sector in Vietnam after graduation.
