VietNamNet Bridge – The training establishments that train doctors will have to set up websites and update all PhD theses on the website. This is a part of the draft regulations on training doctors.

In order to be assigned to train doctors, the universities and institute must have at least 10 permanent faculty who have a doctorate degree or higher.

The training establishments have the responsibility of building websites, making them public, updating information on the websites, and showing PhD theses in full and in summary on the websites, in English and Vietnamese.

The leaders of the establishment centers have to submit reports to the Ministry of Education and Training about the defending of theses of postgraduates.

The training establishments that have 30% of the PhD theses that are not able to meet the requirements will have to stop enrolling in the following year.

Three postgraduates fail to defend theses, teachers stay idle for two years

The supervisors must be either professors or associate professors, or have had a PhD degree for at least three years. They also have to have articles and scientific research published in the last five years.

Professors or doctor of science can lead no more than five postgraduates at the same time, while associate professors or doctors can lead no more than three postgraduates at the same time.

Once a supervisor has two postgraduates who cannot fulfill theses, he will not be able to receive more postgraduate for a certain time.

One of five foreign languages will be accepted.

It takes at least three years to train those who have a MA degree to become doctors, while the minimum time is four years for those, who have a university degree.

The postgraduates must have sufficient English skills, with 45 marks for TOEFL iBT, 450 TOEFL ITP or 4.5 IELTS, which is enough to read documents and join international activities. In case the research issue of the postgraduate needs other foreign languages, they can register to take exams for one of four languages (Russian, French, German or Chinese).
