VietNamNet Bridge - Vietnam wants to promote in-depth cooperation with the Republic of Korea in the field of education, said deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Deputy PM Nhan made the statement at a seminar in Hanoi on March 26, aiming to discuss cooperation in education between Vietnam and RoK.

The seminar was co-organised by the Ministry of Education and Training, the RoK embassy in Vietnam, and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Addressing the seminar, Mr Nhan highlighted OECD and RoK’s efforts in providing support to the development of Vietnam’s education and training sector in the past.

The deputy PM expressed his wish that Vietnam and RoK would devise concrete orientations to boost the development of education sectors in both countries.

He also asked OECD and RoK to assist Vietnam in building schools in difficult areas and strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in training highly-qualified teachers.

The Vietnamese side will also enhance management capacity, and improve the quality of education to compete with other countries in the region and the world, Nhan said.

RoK ambassador to Vietnam, Im Hong-Jae, highlighted Vietnam’s efforts in improving the quality of education, adding that the RoK will cooperate with Vietnam in improving the quality of education at university levels, promote vocational training and boost cultural exchange between the two countries in future.
