ASUS Vietnam will donate US$10,000 to the Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Fund in HCMC. It is the accumulation of an auction for a gold-rimmed laptop, created by the IT company ASUS and fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo, on April 21 in Hanoi.

The auction’s winner, Nguyen Vu Hai Anh.

ASUS Vietnam will donate US$10,000 to the Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Fund in HCMC. It is the accumulation of an auction for a gold-rimmed laptop, created by the IT company ASUS and fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo, on April 21 in Hanoi.

The auction’s winner, Nguyen Vu Hai Anh, Brand Manager of Seven.am American Style, said he appreciated the event and was glad he could contribute to improving education in Vietnam.

The sole item at the auction was a unique ASUS EeePCS101H laptop, gold-rimmed and decorated with two Swarovski crystals. The laptop is autographed by James Ferragamo, women’s leather product director for Salvatore Ferragamo and third generation Ferragamo.

Quach Tan Ngoc, head of the Information and Communication Technology Department, at the Ministry of Education and Training, said, “All the proceeds will be used to purchase IT equipments to support the schools in Vietnam. All the proceeds will be carried out by the S. Ting Memorial Fund”

The auction by ASUS Vietnam and Salvatore Ferragamo in 2007 ended with a bid of $15,000, with the money raised helping to set up a computer lab at Ly Nhon Middle School in Can Gio District, HCMC.
