“I finish morning classes at 12 pm, and I have only one hour to go home and have lunch before I have to go to extra classes in the afternoon at 1 pm. I do not have time to take an afternoon nap, while I have to stay up late at night, until 1 am. I wish I could sleep as much as I want,” said My Loan, a student of Dien Hong High School, adding that she sometimes nods off in class.

Loan is also busy the whole day with a lot of lessons and classes. Loan not only has to prepare for the final exams, but for the university entrance exams as well. For physics alone she studies with two teachers.

Ho Cung, a student at Nguyen Thai Binh High School, said that though he has been preparing thoroughly for the exams, he still feels nervous.

While their children are intensively preparing for the final exams, parents all feel anxious for the children.

N. Duc, who has a child studying in 12^th class, related that he had to give up other jobs to spend time taking his child to the examination preparatory centre in district 1, which is far from his house, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

“We return home late every day and our dinner finishes at 11 pm,” he said.

“Not only our children lack sleep, we are also short of sleep,” he added.

K. Trung, who has a son studying at Dien Hong School, said that he had to take a week off work so he could pick up and drop off his son every day.

“Previously, he went to classes on bicycle, but now I have to take him to classes, because he is too tired with lessons,” Trung said.
