“The uniform shows where the student comes from. I’m proud of being a student of my school, so I like wearing the uniform,” Thang said.

At Nguyen Tat Thanh High School, Nguyen Minh Tam from 12A5 class was seen in black and blue trousers and a white shirt. Tam related that students of his school wear green overcoats in winter. “We love the clothes, because they are the school uniform,” he said.

As for Nguyen Thi Thuy, a 12^th grade student of Duy Tien A in Ha Nam province, “The uniform is just simply a white shirt with a badge, but the school yard looks very beautiful with the clean white shirts.”

Meanwhile, other students say they like wearing uniforms because they make them more beautiful. Nguyen Kim Phan, a 6^th grade student of Doan Thi Diem School, said: “I like wearing the winter uniform because I look more handsome in the uniform.”

The students who don’t like uniforms

At many schools, students do not really like wearing uniforms because they are ‘monotonous and ugly’. Meanwhile, others believe that uniforms are not suitable to students’ activities.

Many students believe that the uniforms of their schools are not beautiful and fashionable enough; therefore, they only wear uniforms when they have to.

Nguyen Trung, an 8^th grade student of Phan Dinh Giot Secondary School, related that he always wears his white shirts with jeans, because the trousers of the uniform are very ugly.

Le Thi Thu Ha from Nguyen Binh Khiem High School likes wearing trousers more than skirts. “Our school uniform is very beautiful, but I prefer wearing trousers to skirts. With skirts, I cannot jog,” she said.

She added that her classmates also prefer trousers and shirts for easier movement.

Meanwhile, Tran Thi Lan Anh from My Loc High School in Ha Nam does not like her uniform just because of the colour, dark green. The uniform, according to Anh, “Does not identify where you come from, because this is a very popular colour, and can be seen everywhere in the province.”

Nguyen Thi Huyen from Thach That High School said she does not like her uniform because it is too simple, while girls always like fashionable clothes. “I wish the teachers would listen to us about the uniform and I wish we could choose the uniform for us,” she said.
