LookAtVietnam – More than 1 million high school students will sit for graduation exams across the country on June 2-4, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.

Of the total, 921,000 candidates are 12th graders, 138,500 supplementary school students and nearly 54,000 free examinees.

Hanoi has the largest number of candidates (nearly 90,000), followed by HCM City, and Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces. The northern mountainous province of Lai Chau has the lowest number, just over 2,000.

Examinees will be tested in physics, biology, geography, literature, mathematics and a foreign language.

On June 1, the Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Minister of Education and Training, Nguyen Thien Nhan, inspected preparations for the exams in the Red River Delta province of Ha Nam, about 80km from Hanoi.

He welcomed Kim Bang district’s initiative to provide free accommodation for nearly 350 candidates who came from Duy Tien district for the exams at Kim Bang C High School. He said that the model should be replicated across the country to ensure students from outside provinces feel at ease before tests.

He asked all exam councils in the province to prepare necessary medicines and a variety of nutritious cookings such as milk, ginger tea and sugar to support candidates in case of emergencies.

Nearly 12,000 candidates from 25 high schools and 6 regular education centres in Ha Nam have registered for the exams this year.
