Examinees exchanges information after the chemistry exam at the exam venue of the Ho Chi Minh City Foreign Trade University.

Both phases of the 2009 university entrance examinations yesterday ended in a safe and sound manner and in full conformity with the exam regulations.

At a press briefing right after the exams were over, the Ministry of Education and Training announced that there had been 1,261,941 examinees taking the exams in both phases, accounting for 70.07% of the total entrants, an increase of 0.45% as compared to last year’s exams.

The number of invigilators and examinees violating the exam regulations decreased in comparison with last year’s exams thanks to well-prepared activities before the exams and the widely-disseminated information on exam regulations.

This year, the number of invigilators violating the regulations was 16, less than the figure of 33 in last year’s exams. There were 365 examinees being disciplined, 258 of them were suspended due mainly to bringing mobile phones into their exam rooms, in comparison with the figures of 275 and 204 respectively in last year’s exams.

Synchronous co-ordination and active support from ministries and branches and localities have contributed to the success of the exams.

Exam questions are evaluated to be good, not too long, not too difficult and easy to rank examinees.
