Sixty-three universities have announced scores for the university entrance exams held in July. Four examinees who got 30 of 30 marks have been reported so far.

Nguyen Chi Dung, who got 30 marks on the entrance exam to enter Hanoi Medical University, was the first.

The boy from Tu Liem district in Hanoi also got high marks of 28.5 on the exam for the Hanoi National Economics University.

The Hanoi National Economics on July 27 announced the results of its exams, and said that two examinees got 30s.

The two examinees are Dam Van Dong and Dao Ngoc Cuong.

According to local newspaper VnExpress, 13 examinees who took A-group exams (mathematics, physics and chemistry) got 29.5 marks and higher, nearly 380 got over 27.5 marks. Meanwhile, nearly 2,900 examinees got below average marks for the three subjects, or 30 percent.

With 29.75 marks, which is rounded up to 30, Le Anh Quan, who sat for the exam to enter the Hanoi Civil Engineering University, has become the fourth top exam scorer.

The university had 2,500 examinees who got 17.5 marks and higher for A-group exams, and 280 examinees got 26.5 marks and higher for V-group (mathematics, physics and aptitude subject). Meanwhile, the university plans to enroll 2,850 A-group and 450 V-group students.

The examinee who got the highest score on the exams to enter Hanoi University got 27.5 marks for three subjects (A-group) and 27 for D-group (mathematics, literature and foreign language). Deputy president of the Hanoi University Nguyen Duy Truyen said that the required marks to be enrolled in the university may be the same as 2008’s.

Ho Ngoc Han, who came in first at the ninth TV show Duong len dinh Olympia (the Road to Olympia Peak), the show that glorifies knowledge of Vietnamese students, came first in the exam to enter HCM City University of Natural Sciences under the HCM City National University. However, Han did not get the top score of 30, but 29.

Han was first in the A-group exam, while his counterpart in B-group exam is Le Viet Son, who got 29.5 marks.

Last May, Han, a student of the Hue city National School, surpassed four rivals to win the first prize in the well-known TV show. The gift for the winner was a scholarship to go study in Australia worth $35,000.

In 2008, Le Trung Hieu, a student from Tran Phu Gifted School in Hai Phong City, who won third prize from the same show, was the examinee who came first on the exam for Maritime University.

The noteworthy thing is that many of the students who come first on exams mostly are the ‘seeds’ of gifted schools.

Nguyen Chi Dung and Dam Van Dong, for example, were 12th grade students in the mathematics major class of the Hanoi University of Education.

The Ministry of Education and Training plans to announce the floor mark on August 1. Floor mark sets the lowest mark for universities to refer to when setting their required marks to enroll students.
