The second day of the university entrance exam finished yesterday, July 5. The first two days have not been uneventful.

A mother in Binh Dinh province, after discovering that her son, who was sitting for the university entrance exam to get into Hoa Sen University, had forgot to bring his identity card with him, travelled many kilometres during the night on July 3 night to bring his identity card to him.

Can Tho University is now holding the record for number of students and exam supervisors violating regulations with 12 people having been disciplined.

The Binh Dinh Economics and Technical University is the only university to have a student taking his exam in the health care room of the university. Vu Hoang Viet, a student from Binh Dinh, had to stay in the room because he was discovered as having mumps.

Valuable support for poor student

Nguyen Minh Duc had to go 50 kilometres from Binh Duong province to HCM City by bike to attend the university entrance exam. Duc registered to take the exam to enter the HCM City Architecture University.

On leaving home for HCM City to attend exam, Duc only brought two sets of clothes, dried tiny shrimp for meals and some dong donated by local residents. However, Duc still did not have enough money to pay for the examination fee and thought he would be turned away. But the HCM City Student Support Centre, which heard about Duc, timely brought Duc to a free lodging in HCM City, gave him free meals and gave him 500,000 dong to pay for the exam fee.

The seven special examinees of Hue city University

The examinees are ‘special’ because they were all born into poor families and they have been blind from birth.

All the seven special examinees plan to take exams to enter Hue University. Mai Thi Tu will take the exam for the Hue Music Academy, Mai Thi Thuy, Nguyen Van Quoc, Nguyen Cong Thien and Truong Anh Tuan the Philology Faculty, Nguyen Thi Ai Tram the Sociology department and Mai Van Dong the Oriental studies faculty.

This is the fourth time Hue University has organised university entrance exams for blind students. Three blind students passed the exams to the university in the previous four years. In 2008, a blind student, Tran Thi My Lai, came first on the exam to enter the philology faculty of the university.
