Vietnamese agencies will roll out the red carpet for the Australian university, RMIT - a pioneer in providing foreign training programmes in Vietnam, President Nguyen Minh Triet said.

President Nguyen Minh Triet receives General Director of RMIT Vietnam Merilyn Liddell

While receiving General Director of RMIT Vietnam Merilyn Liddell in Hanoi on July 24, President Triet welcomed the university’s plan on expanding operations in Vietnam and stressed that among foreign education organisations in Vietnam, RMIT is appreciated for its top-notch training.

RMIT Vietnam not only creates opportunities to access a foreign education, but also offers local students significant savings, the President said.

In Vietnam, the number of students wishing to study abroad is on the rise, so Australian educators are encouraged to open training centres here, he added.

General Director Liddell, who just took office in Vietnam, briefed the President on RMIT’s operations, which are in the completion phase of building a training facility and dormitory in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to another facility in Hanoi, she said, RMIT will expand the scale of its training to meet the demands of Vietnamese state agencies and businesses.

Local students can save up to two-thirds on tuition in comparison with studying in Australia, she stressed.

RMIT university will also provide more scholarships for Vietnamese students in Australia, she said.
