Vietnamese students win prizes at Int’l Biology and Physics Olympiads

135 students won prizes at the 20th International Biology Olympiad, which concluded in Tsukuba City in Ibaraki, Japan on July 18.

All four Vietnamese students bagged prizes at the contest. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang from the Hanoi National University won silver while the other three students, Le Thuy Duong from Hanoi Amsterdam Secondary School, Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh from Lam Son Secondary School and Duong Thu Huong from Hai Phong City brought home with bronze medals.

The Biology Olympiad is held annually in many countries in the world. Vietnam has attended 16 times and got the gold prize at the 11th Olympiad in Turkey in 2000.

Vietnam will host the event in 2016.

he 40th International Physics Olympiad held in Mexico from July 12-19 attracted students from 85 countries and territories.

Five Vietnamese students won silvers at the event. They are Vu Hong Anh, 12th grade student at the Tran Phu Secondary School in Hai Phong, Pham Thanh Long, 12th grade student at the Nguyen Trai Secondary School in Hai Duong, Nguyen Phan Minh, 12th grade student at the School for Talented Students, the Ho Chi Minh City National University, Pham Van Quyen, 11th grade student from Le Hong Phong Secondary School in Nam Dinh and Nguyen Dinh Tung, 11th grade student at the Le Quy Don Secondary School in Da Nang.

At the 39th Olympiad, the host Vietnam won 4 golds and 1 bronze. The 41st Olympiad will be held in Croatia.
