These boys all came first on their respective university entrance exams, and they all wish to get more knowledge to contribute to the building of a better and more prosperous Vietnam.

The Ministry of Education and Training will provide scholarships to fund overseas studies for students who get the highest scores in the country in every exam group

Bien Thanh Tri said that he could not have imagined that he would come first on the exam to enter the HCM City University of Technical Education and get 26.5 marks, though Tri knew he answered the exam questions very well.

Tri’s parents are farmers, and are always busy working in the rice field, but Tri has always dreamed of becoming an engineer who can manufacturer smart robots that are useful in life.

Friends and relatives were not surprised when Tri got a 10 on the physics exam, since they know Tri wants to become an automation engineer, and physics is his favourite subject.

Tri related that he did not go to any exam preparation centre, he just stayed at home to review for the exam. The ‘know-how’ of Tri is to listen to teachers attentively in class and then repeat the theory and do a lot of exercises at home.

Dreaming of becoming an automation engineer, Tri is a loyal watcher of ‘Robocon’ TV show. Tri believes that the HCM City University of Technical Education will help him realise his dream. He also wishes to become a member of Vietnam’s robocon competition national team and compete in the Asia-Pacific Robocon competition.

The class with eight university exam laureates

The1K40 mathematics major class of the Hanoi University of Education has had a “bountiful crop”, as its members all got high scores on university entrance exams. Four students in the class came first and four came second on the exams to top universities.

Nguyen Chi Dung and Dam Van Dong got 30/30 on the exams to the Hanoi Medical University and Hanoi National Economics University. The other two both got 29.5: Nguyen Quang Huy, who took the exam for the Hanoi University of Technology, and Vu Viet Trung, who took the B-group exam (mathematics, chemistry and biology) for the Hanoi University of Natural Sciences.

All the students are listed among the top 100 students in Vietnam.

Nguyen Chi Dung, who got 30/30 on the exam to enter the Hanoi Medical University, said that many of his friends are better than him and that he was lucky to come first on the exam. Dung related that two friends of his have got scholarships to go studying abroad and tens of others got high scores on exams.

Nguyen Quang Huy, a close friend of Dung, for example, who came first on the exam for the Hanoi University of Technology, is also very good at foreign languages, and took the D-group exam (mathematics, literature and foreign languages) to enter the Hanoi National University.

The outstanding characteristic of Dung and Huy’s class is that the class gathers students from many provinces, including the former Ha Tay, Bac Ninh, Thai Binh, Vinh Phu and even Nghe An province in the central region. Many of them come from disadvantaged families, but they still have been able to study well.

Tran Nhat Tien: coming first on exam not a surprise at all

The poor village of Duong Mong was not surprised when hearing that Tran Nhat Tien came first on the exams for two universities as Tien is well known for his learning achievements.

Tien got 29 on the A-group exam for Hue city City University and 29 on the B-group exam for Hue City Medical and Pharmaceutical University.

Though passing the exams to both universities, Tien has decided to become a doctor, a dream which has been applauded by his parents.

Tien dreamed of being a doctor to continue the family tradition when he was a student riding his bicycle every day to the Hue National School. Tien’s father is a herbal doctor, and Tien dreams of combining oriental medicine and western health-care methods to treat patients. Tien’s sister is also learning at the Hue City Medical and Pharmaceutical University.

In related news, the Ministry of Education and Training will provide scholarships to fund overseas studies for students who get the highest scores in the country in every exam group. Currently, the ministry is providing scholarships for the students who get 30/30 on exams.
