LookAtVietnam – Many universities in HCM City now have three or four campuses located in different districts because their land plots are not large enough to accommodate all students.

Hong Bang has five campuses

The Viet, a student from Thanh Hoa province, related that he and his sister, who is a new student at HCM City Economics University, have been looking for a room to rent for the last three days.

“The university has a lot of campuses, and we don’t know where we should rent rooms. We don’t want to travel a long distance to reach classes,” Viet explained.

Tien, whose sister is also a new student of the university, grumbled that looking for rooms is a headache. Accommodations in the city center are too costly, but travel to school would be difficult in heavy traffic if a student lives too far away.

He described his sister’s classes as “classes on the move,” because she goes to morning and afternoon classes that are several kilometers apart.

His friends complain that they cannot study, because they have to travel to a District 3 campus in the morning, and then a District 10 campus in the afternoon, costing them valuable time and money.

H. Khanh, a student of the Hong Bang International University, also complained about the distances, noting that students always arrive late to classes and feel tired during their lessons.

Tran Thi Kieu, a student of Bach Viet Junior College detailed that she has to go to a classroom in Phu Nhuan district in the mornings, and then to another campus in Go Vap district in the afternoons, and then to yet another campus to learn English in the evenings.

Students all complain that the learning at different bases have cost them much money for petrol for motorbikes, time to travel and motorbike keeping services.

Ton Duc Thang University has not completed construction of its campus in District 7, but students of the university have been studying here since the beginning of the school year.

The university lacks classrooms, so students have to go Binh Thanh district in the evening and then back to the South Saigon area in the afternoon, traveling long and dusty roads every day.

The economics school has six training campuses bases, Hong Bang has five while Bach Viet has three.

Students complain that their universities have not considered more reasonable schedules to help ease such unnecessary difficulties in learning and in their lives.
