Students at many two-year training vocational schools complain do not know from week to week what their timetable will be due to lack of teachers.

At the Dong Nai Technology, Informatics and Telecommunication School they have been learning three days a week only for the last couple of weeks. The school’s students, whom VnMedia reporters met, complained: “A three-learning-day week, again. When will we finish the course?”

The same situation can be seen at many other non-state vocational schools. The timetable of Anh Sang Finance and Informatics School for November 23-29 showed school students learned for three days only.

“Friday and Saturday are days off. Therefore, I do not know what I will have to learn next week. Sometimes, it happens that we have to take exams but we do not know about them in advance so cannot prepare,” a student of the school complained.

On Sunday November 29, VnMedia reporters accessed the website of Anh Sang School and did not find a timetable for the following week. Meanwhile, the website of Gia Dinh School on Monday 30 still had no information about the schedule for that week.

Students of Au Viet Economics and Polytechniques School are facing the same problem. They are frequently reminded that they need to check the timetable regularly on the notice board.

When reporters asked school’s leaders to explain about unstable timetables, they said that it is very difficult to arrange timetables, because it depends on the availability of teachers. Most schools have few permanent teachers and rely on visiting lecturers who work for state owned universities or junior colleges. The teachers must fulfill their duties at the schools where they work before they can arrange time to give lecturers at non-state schools.

Duong Van Thanh, a student, said that he cannot book railway tickets to go home on Tet holidays soon, because the school never gives clear schedules for Tet holiday in advance.

Meanwhile, a student of Au Viet School complained that everything is expensive in big city and he does not want to spend money to stay in the city just to learn three days a week. Meanwhile, it is still unclear when he will be able to graduate school and get a job.
