Which universities have highest lecturers’ income?

LookAtVietnam – University lecturers receive an average monthly salary of 3-4 million dong, or some $200, according to universities’ reports.

Making public the income of university lecturers is one of the requirements set under the “three disclosures” program.

Nearly 250 universities and junior colleges have submitted reports about the income of lecturers and staffs in 2008 and 2009.

On average, the income in 2009 is some 300,000 dong higher than 2008.

The highest reported income is of Ha Hoa Tien Private University, which was established two years ago in Ha Nam province. The university has 45 workers, including 37 lecturers (21 permanent lecturers), no associate professor and one doctor.

The highest income level is that of Hoa Sen University, also a private institution in HCM City.

In 2008, the HCM City University of Technical Education had 267 workers with monthly incomes of 2-5 million dong. Meanwhile, 22.4 percent of staff had incomes of 5-7 million dong, 17.8 percent earned 7-10 million dong and 69 people (12.3 percent) earned more than 10 million dong.

The monthly income on books for lecturers of the Hanoi University of Technology, the biggest polytechnique university, is modest with 2.8 million dong, while the figure is 5.56 million dong for Danang University of Technology.

At Hanoi Medical University, the monthly income proves to be higher with 4.3 million dong for lecturers, 7.2 million dong for management officers and 3.5 million dong for others.

In 2009, the average income of managers at Ba Ria – Vung Tau University is double that of 2008, while the income of lecturers is 900,000 dong higher. The school has total revenue of 20 billion dong this year, with pretax profits of six billion dong.

The University of Business and Technology has 911 workers, including 755 lecturers (304 are permanent lecturers, 16 professors and 45 associate professors). The income of the school’s lecturers has increased by 1.2 million dong, while management officers’ salaries have risen by 800,000 dong.

HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities lecturers receive is 6.2 million dong a month, which represents an increase of one million dong this year.

The Vietnam National Music Academy predicts an average income of 3.36 million dong for its staff in 2009.

Meanwhile, many other prestigious universities, including the Finance Academy and Institute for Diplomatic Relations have not revealed figures about the income of their staff.
