LookAtVietnam – Young people in Vietnam took the opportunity to send questions and opinions to the organisation board of the ‘Connecting young Vietnamese’ program.

Many Vietnamese students plan to return to Vietnam
Outlined in their work were valuable suggestions on how to build Vietnam into a prosperous country.

As scheduled, the online meeting of overseas Vietnamese students with 11 meeting points started at 1.30 pm of January 6, and caught the attention of thousands of Vietnamese youths.

After six years of biological technology study at Kiev Technical University in Ukraine, Le Hoai Thu wishes she could find a suitable job in Vietnam when she graduates in July 2010.

“The online meeting of overseas students is really a good opportunity for students to meet and exchange view with representatives of government agencies in order to find the answers to their questions,” Thu said.

Sharing the same view was, Dinh Mai Long, MA from London University. She said that Vietnamese overseas students are all considered as industrious, energetic and clever students. However, timidity proves to be their biggest shortcoming.

Long said that the online meeting bringing together Vietnamese students all over the world was a golden opportunity for Vietnamese students to find official answers about job opportunities and other issues.

Long, who finished the four year study at one of the most renowned university in the UK, dreams that he can find a job relating to finance and development at the State Bank of Vietnam or the Ministry of Finance.

“I hope I can get a job suitable to my trained profession this year in my homeland. I know that the pay in Vietnam would not be as high as in other countries. However, Vietnam is home and is where my family and my friends are. My future is in Vietnam,” Long said.

Vietnamese overseas students sent a lot of questions to the Communist Youth Union and Student Association, expressing their concerns in connection with Vietnamese students living and studying in foreign countries.

Phung Khanh Tai from the Youth Union’s Central Committee said that the Youth Union now has many measures to connect students and detailed information about the activities is available on doanthanhnien.vn website.

Toan said that Vietnamese overseas students need to keep in close contact with embassies and Vietnamese businesses in foreign countries.

Answering the question about whether Vietnamese students should return to Vietnam or stay to work in foreign countries, Tran Duc Mau, deputy chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said both are legitimate aspirations.

“You should not too anxious about whether to return to Vietnam or stay in foreign countries. If you succeed in foreign countries, you still can serve your country,” he said

Agreeing with Mau, Nguyen Dac Vinh, secretary of the Youth Union’s Central Committee said that young Vietnamese should always be patriotic and think about what they should to for the homeland, no matter where they live.

“Our country and your families have been creating most favorable conditions to help you access the best studying environment. I hope that more and more of you succeed in your jobs and life,” Vinh said.
