LookAtVietnam – “I cannot imagine that girls could strike each other so brutally,” a student commented .

The recent video of a female student beating another has been the hottest topic among students and between parents, not just educators and administrators.

“It is necessary to condemn such behavior,” observed Nguyen Thi Huong, a 10th grader. “Striking each other is really bad behavior, and it is even worse when the attackers are female students. Students of the digital age are dynamic, modern and a little bit rebellious. But in this case, they are like female robbers.”

Nguyen Kim Thanh, a Hanoi-Amsterdam student, revealed that she knows of many other cases in which female students beat each other as if they were in a “gang war.” She remarked that “This is behavior only for uneducated people.”

What worries Thanh is that the clip may make people think badly about 9X students (9X refers to people born in 1990s), who she believes are mostly obedient and talented.

Ngo Gia Tu, a Hanoi National University student, noted that was shocked by these “female gangsters.”

“I did not think that girls nowadays could be so horrible,” Tu exclaimed. “They behaved like gangsters. I think that even the boys are inferior to females in terms of bad manners.”

Notably, these types of “gang wars” are not just a high school phenomenon, but are also showing up at middle and secondary schools.

Nguyen Tuong Minh, a Lomonosov School student, has witnessed female students hitting each other and swearing in front of many people. “They looked like something from The Godfather film,” Minh recalled.

Parents and educators feel sad

Thu Nga has a daughter learning in 11th grade of Marie Curie High School. She now has many questions after seeing the video clip.

“I do not know what the girl was thinking when she struck her friend,” Nga questioned. “Who told her to do that? I believe that parents do not tell their children to behave like that.”

Nga showed the video clip to her daughter and explained to the girl that she needs to avoid acting this way.

“Being a teacher, I always want my students to behave as obedient students to grow up as useful members of the society,” she noted. “However, it seems that many girl gangs have taken shape at general schools.”

Nguyen Ngoc Huyen, a Lomonosov instructor, claims that it is understandable if male students strike each other, but it is quite a strange to see female students beating each other.

Huyen thinks that each school should have a guidance counselor’s office to give advice in life skills and behavior for students.

Many parents think that students nowadays have too many sources of information to access that has not been ‘filtered.’ They blame films about debauched lifestyles and family violence, for example, for influencing their children negatively.
