The Ho Chi Minh City Power Company will spend VND50 billion (US$2.8 million) to remove the tangle of overhead power lines and telecom cables on Tran Hung Dao Street and lay them underground.

The city plans to move overhead cables underground on major streets by 2012 and by 2030 in the city’s inner districts, new urban areas, and industrial parks, according to the company.
