Police nationwide have cooperated with border guards, marine police and customs officers to arrest 11,977 people involved and nearly a thousand drug traffickers have been prosecuted so far, the ministry reported at a conference in Da Lat Town in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

The forces also seized more than 372 kilograms of dried cannabis and a large amount of other additive drugs.

Recently several Africans have settled illegally in HCMC, India and Pakistan and hired Vietnamese women on vacation to bring drugs into Vietnam before it is transferred to the third country, the conference heard.
