VietNamNet Bridge – Three workers at a Binh Duong province animal park were attacked by an escaped tiger on September 10. One died on the spot.

The injured worker named Giau at the local hospital.

The workers were planting trees in the enclosure of a white tiger kept at the Dai Nam Tourist Park, north of HCM City, suddenly a yellow tiger jumped a nearly five meter electrified fence and attacked them.

One of the three men plunged into a nearby moat and dived to hide from the tiger. Nguyen Thanh Giau, 21, was mauled on the head and neck, sustaining serious injuries. The remaining worker, Nguyen Cong Danh, 47, was bitten to death.

The tiger was then driven back into its pen and the injured worker was taken to a local hospital for emergency aid.

Duong Thanh Phi, director of the animal park, said that though the tiger was able to jump from one pen to another, it could not have reached the public area because the tiger pens are surrounded an eight meter wide, four meter deep moat as well as the electrified fences.

Dai Nam managers are inspecting to learn how this tiger could clear the electrified fence. They speculated that perhaps the tiger panicked when workers used a crane to plant trees.
