Hanoi’s Vinh Tuy Bridge, eventually to be the widest in Vietnam, was scheduled to be completed in September 2007. It’s presently being used as an outdoor restaurant.

Vinh Tuy Bridge, which is about to open for traffic, is bright at night.

It is also a place for local people to take in the cool night air.

Construction materials are piled nearby.

Many laborers continue work in the evening.

Outdoor “restaurants” appear on the bridge.

Sedge mats serve small parties.

Trash accumulates on the bridge.

Vinh Tuy is now a favorite spot for young couples.

The bridge is not officially open, so helmets are unnecessary.
