Vietnam has brought home four excellence certificates from a professional skills contest that ended in Canada Monday.

The country was thus ranked 30th out of 46 participating countries at the 40th WorldSkills contest that began in Calgary on August 28.

Chu Tien Dung won a certificate in the information technology catergory, Hoang Duc Long in electronics skills, Dao Duy Khanh in cooking skills, and Le Minh Bang and Nguyen Van Hoa took home the electromechanics certificate.

The biannual contest received more than 900 contestants this year, with South Korea coming first with 11 gold medals, Japan second with six and the host country in fourth, after Austria.

The Vietnamese team won one certificate in 2007 and had hoped to take a medal home this year.

The next WorldSkills will be held in London in 2011.
