A student invention competition granted 76 prizes to youngsters in Hanoi Wednesday.

Phan Van Mam, a 17-year-old from the northern province of Nam Dinh, won the annual competition’s special prize for his robot built with hand that can pick up and move objects.

Other prizes, including five first prizes and ten second prizes, were given to works related to study tools, software, kid toys and things that can be used for family activities, environmental protection or economic development.

Ten of 76 award-winning works will be selected to join the International Exhibition for Young Creators in Nigeria this November.

The National Creativity Contest for Children and Teenagers was launched last November and received 286 submissions.

The fifth contest of its kind was held by the Ministry of Education and Training in cooperation with the central committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
