Over 5000 people failed to save four coal miners who were stuck in a coal pit in Quang Ninh province for five days.

The first body was taken out from the pit on October 6.

The first body was taken out from the pit, which is 40m depth, on October 6. The second was found at 7am, October 7. The searching activities are continuing to find the remaining bodies.

The accident happened in the morning of October 1 at a pit owned by the Thanh Cong Coal Enterprise. Four workers, aged from 22-28, were stuck in the pit. Rescue forces were immediately sent to the site to save the victims.

Chairman of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group (Vinacomin) Doan Van Kien said that from October 1-6, over 5000 workers and dozens of tones of equipment were mobilised to dig and search for the four victims.

Vinacomin’s deputy general director Le Minh Chuan said that the group will help families of victims and will organise funerals for the victims.
