LookAtVietnam – Two fishing boats reported missing in typhoon Ketsana returned to Sa Ky port, the central province of Quang Ngai province on October 6 one week after they went missing.

The two boats with 33 fishermen left the mainland on September 28, one day before Ketsana attacked the central region. They were reported missing by the Quang Ngai province’s border guard forces.

Captain Nguyen Van Tau said that with the storm suddenly almost upon them he decided to drive the boat to a nearby island to shelter from the typhoon.

However, the boat was wrecked by the storm and the radio equipment damaged. Luckily, the boat was still able to send out an SOS signal which was picked up by a fishing boat captained by Truong Van Quang.

After one week on the sea, Quang’s boat pulled the broken vessel safely to Sa Ky.

Several days ago, Quang Ngai’s 26 fishermen who were believed to be dead returned on their two boats.
