There were also several questions about the progress of land-use certificates, and the compensation to individuals who have lost land on-line discussion.

The discussion, led by Minister Pham Khoi Nguyen, was attended by officials in natural resources and environment departments from 63 provinces and cities nationwide.

Nguyen said issues pertaining to land, the environment and minerals had been receiving increasing attention from domestic and foreign individuals and businesses.

People and enterprises taking part in the discussion also raised their concerns about land and water resources.

Nguyen said results of the on-line talk had had practical benefits for State management. In addition, it also created an important channel to disseminate information about policies and laws concerning these issues.

He added that the ministry had had difficulties with implementing laws on natural resources.

The ministry also asked provincial natural resources and environment departments to solve these difficulties as soon as possible.

Bui Cach Tuyen, deputy head of the MONRE’s Environment Department, said questions relating to businesses causing pollution and delays in granting licences were of great interest to the people and businesses that attended.

Tuyen added that many issues were resolved at the talk. As for emerging issues, the department had taken note and asked provincial departments to provide satisfactory answers.

There were also several questions about the progress of land-use certificates, and the compensation to individuals who have lost land.

These questions were answered clearly by deputy general director of the MONRE’s Land Management Department Phung Van Nghe, Deputy head of the general department of Geology and Minerals Trinh Xuan Ben said questions about sand exports, bauxit exploitation in Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) and coal mining in Hong (Red) River Delta were also asked.

Ben said businesses involved in mineral exploitation should improve their standards in environmental protection.
